Jerome Henry Roth joined the NYC Poster Division fresh from his Bronx High School Graduation and at age 16 was the youngest member of the project. While working days for the WPA, Roth attended Art Students League at night. His later education included studies at the Pratt Institute and The New School of Social Research. Roth’s tenure with the FAP Poster Project lasted from 1935 to 1939 when he left to join a commercial art firm. In the late 1940s he worked as an assistant to designer Herbert Bayer. In the early 1950s Roth formed his own design studio J.H. Roth, Inc., which he operated until his retirement in 1983. In the late 1930s, while working for the WPA/FAP Poster Project, Jerome Roth was asked to design a poster for the U.S. Travel Bureau, to awaken Americans’ interest in their homeland. The Wheatley Press announces the publication of a special signed and numbered Limited Edition silkscreen print as part of the SEE AMERICA series. Originally designed by Mr. Roth, The Wheatley Press has reproduced this wonderful poster under his personal supervision.
